Match Report: VCFF ease to opening home win with five-star performance against Santa Teresa CD (5-0)

Goals by C.Cubedo, M.Carro, Salmi and Candela at the double inspire VCFF to goal fest.

The away side started by pilling a high pressure on VCFF to prevent them from bringing the ball out from the back. The away side enjoyed two long-range efforts which went off target but VCFF responded at the other end through brilliant solo moves by Salmi and Carla Bautista in a bright spell in the early goings of the game with neither side able to dictate play.

However, Cristina Cubedo rose up to meet a brilliant Salmi cross from the left-hand side to head VCFF in front heading it across the kepper on 12 minutes. After the goal VCFF played a dynamic possession football. Carla Bautista made herself a nuisance for the opposition’s backline alas, she was forced off the field with an injury on 25 minutes. Florencia Bonsegudo came on in her stead.

VCFF stuck to their task playing their possession football and Marta Carro doubled VCFF’s lead with a smart finish at the back post on the stretch following a pin-point Jansen cross from the left wing who cleverly picked out her onrushing teammate on 39 minutes.

VCFF went with a two goal cushion into the intermission and looking on course to their opening home win of the season.

VCFF came out in the second half looking to increase their advantage at a high tempo at both ends. The Santa Teresa CD keeper pulled off a stop to Salmi’s top-corner effort palming it to safety. Floodgates opened, and Florencia Bonsegundo stepped up to take a spot-kick but she was denied by the left-hand post.

Persistence bore fruit on 67, when the Argentinian squared it into the onrushing Finnish Salmi who made it 3-0 tucking it away with plenty of composure.  VCFF kept on pushing for a fourth, which came about in style with a sumptuous half volleyed finish into the back of the net from Candela.

Caldela grabbed her brace late on with a thumping effort from outside the area for a grandstand finish which put the opening win beyond doubt in an emphatic yet convincing manner and keeping a clean sheet which is always a great bonus.
